LIS 6511 Collection Development and Maintenance (CORE)
Prepare a needs assessment project which must include gathering of appropriate demographic data from published sources, interviews with key informants, and either field survey or activities survey. Applied skills, knowledge, and understanding of the principles involved in the selection and acquisition of book and non-book materials to all types of libraries and for diverse populations of users, is demonstrated through the needs assessment project. Applied principles of intellectual freedom and the freedom to read to the development of library collections, is also demonstrated through collection development project.

LIS 6409 Introduction to Library Administration (CORE)
Discuss the advantages or disadvantages of one or more management theory as discussed so far in this course. You may choose to explore one theory or compare and contrast different theories. Consider how this theory (or theories) applies to library (public, academic, school, or special) management. I also chose to interview 3 females in positions of leadership in Sarasota intertwining those discussions, observations, and leadership views regarding women's current roles in leadership.

Letter to Governor - Ron DeSantis (Florida)
Write a letter of advocacy on behalf of the public library used. This letter was written regarding the priority on budget and the significance of the library system as a whole.

LIS 6445 Seminar to Public Libraries (elective)
Governance Assignment - Sarasota County Board of Commissioners
Attend the official meeting of the county governing body to which the public library you use reports. Summarize key issues of “the day.” Identify those that relate to the library. Include your observations. Discuss where the public library fits in local government.
